Picking Up The Pieces (of Gold)

There was hardly enough time to grab hold and hang on to the top of the cliff before falling into the ravine. Gold prices had been rising persistently since September 2007. The commentators and advisers were nearly unanimous in their opinions that Gold was headed higher still, because the "fundamentals" required it. Interested investors were 95% (or more) bullish, which meant that almost everyone who favored Gold was already invested in Gold, leaving themselves vulnerable to a slashing decline if even one sell order finally tipped the balance. As is the case with many commentators, advisers, and economists, they were projecting past price events linearly into the future; but the markets don't work that way. The markets move in patterns; the patterns repeat; and they can be predicted, although not necessarily with respect to timing.

On March 5, 2008, a warning signal appeared, in the form of a Japanese Candlesticks "Last Bullish Engulfing" white bar on the Daily chart. In spite of its name, this pattern is bearish, in that it indicates a "last gasp" of a frenzied bull run and the possibility of a dramatic reversal. On March 13, prices gapped higher, thereby amending our view of the "Last Bullish Engulfing" pattern so that we now recognized it as a "Belt Hold," which had the capacity to lead prices higher still, into more rarefied air. On March 17, prices opened higher but closed down, for an overall "down day." On the next day, March 18, prices displayed a "Harami" pattern, which indicates indecision on the part of investors. We were alert to the possibility of a reversal, since our other Indicators were at or near the tops of their ranges, thereby giving off clear warning signals of a change of trend. Pressure was building.

On March 19, the floodgates opened. Prices gapped far down on opening and fell dramatically during the day. At the end, Gold had lost $59 per ounce in one day.

On March 20, prices again gapped down on opening, and closed with a loss of $25 per ounce on the day, which meant that the price of Gold had fallen 84 dollars per ounce - a decline of 19.5% in two days! One wonders how long it will take to "make it all back."

So much for Gold being a "hedge against inflation." Any investment which loses 19.5% of its value in two days is no hedge at all. What happened? Did Gold really lose that much value in two days? The short answer is No; Gold stayed stable. It was the Dollar which gained that much in value against Gold in two days.

Those who were able to read the Candlestick patterns and the warnings of other Indicators in time were able to protect themselves; and no doubt a pretty fair number of investors profited handsomely on the fast movement.

Perhaps there are some lessons that we could take from these events in Gold: One, trends do not persist forever; Two, it is a mistake to project past price action linearly into the future; Three, reversals of trend can be predicted by use of Japanese Candlesticks charting in combination with standard "Western" Indicators; Four, when "conventional wisdom" balloons to the point at which 95% of investors are of the same opinion, the "conventional wisdom" is very likely to be wrong; Five, try to catch a major trend reversal at the point of conception; Six, always use protective stops; Seven, don't bet the farm on any one single trade.

Tips On How To Start An Investment Club

Investment club is formed by a group of people who pool their money for joint investments. If you are a new to investing in stock market and have limited funds, starting an investment club is a great way to learn from other investors and get hands on experience in investing.

Here are some tips to starting an investment club.

1. Make sure all members understand the risks of investing. Many people who invest think they are going to be very successful, and are not prepared to lose all of their money. Unfortunately, there are no guarantees when it comes to the stock market. No one should invest money they are not willing to lose.

2. Find the right people who share the same investment objectives and goals. It is easier to get along with right minded people and learn from each other.

3. Make sure all club members agree to the partnership agreement and any other rules.

4. Join the National Association of Investors Corporation (NAIC) that provides support, information and tools on starting an investment club and investing, and publishes a monthly investor-learning magazine.

5. All members must agree to make a monthly contribution. The typical range of contribution is $20 to $100 a month. Members who contribute more than the required contribution are allowed greater share of profits.

6. Decide on how to meet and the frequency of meetings. For the initial setting up of the club, it may be best for everyone to meet in person. If all meetings are held online, it may be good to meet in person once or twice a year for social interaction. To keep up to date, it is recommended to meet 1-2 times a month.

7. Start with a small number of people. It is easier to come to an agreement when there are fewer members. When the club is established and all formal procedures are in place, new members can be invited to join.

8. Education is the main goal of an investment club. An investment club made up of educated investors will be more successful and cohesive than an investment club which is solely focused on making a profit.

9. Every investment club must have a well-defined investment style or investment philosophy. There must be clear selection criteria such as what type of stocks to invest, the acceptable risk tolerance level and rate of return. All club members should be aware of and agree to the investment style of the club.

Starting and running an investment club is an invaluable learning experience, where you can leverage on the expertise and knowledge of other investors. Investment clubs facilitate the exchange of ideas and collective decisions that are likely to produce sustainable returns.

If you are new to stock market investing and have little funds to invest, why not start an investment club? More revealing facts and resources on how to start an investment club are available at http://www.aboutinvestmentclub.com

Investment Management Advisors

Investment management refers to the process of managing money being used for investments. Investment profiles are managed through sound decisions about security purchases and sales. Investment management advisors provide investment management services including money management, investment projections, investment counseling, and investment management planning. Investment management advisors may work as individual entities or may be a part of investment management firms. Those who work for reputable investment management firms are preferred over solo agents because of their credibility and reputation. These agents are usually college degree holders who have gained bachelor degrees in business and also have relevant investment management experience tucked in their belts.

There are two types of investment management advisors, those who offer direct financial advice to individuals or businesses and those who offer asset management for corporate clients. The services offered by investment management advisors are not given for free. The usual rate charged by these advisors varies depending on the project, the monetary investment involved, or the current standing of whom they advise. They also charge higher fees to corporate accounts than they do to individuals because of the sheer complexity of the tasks when catering to larger companies. Their fees may be calculated percentages of the assets gained, annual fees, or even hourly rates.

Investment management advisors are monitored by government run agencies and private investment management associations to ensure the quality of their services. The certifications issued by government agencies and private associations protect investment management advisors and their clients alike. They are subject to laws and regulations governing money management and must meet strict requirements prior to certification and registry as qualified investment management advisors. They work assuring client confidentiality and provide complete disclosure of all investment deals. Most, if not all investment management advisors are also licensed stockbrokers to enable them to carry out investor authorized sales and purchasers.

Investment Management provides detailed information on Investment Management, Investment Management Firms, Investment Portfolio Management, Investment Management Training and more. Investment Management is affiliated with Investment Management Advice.

How to Pick Good Real Estate Land Investment if You're Not Rich

1. First of all, you need to get good sound advice from real estate (land) investment practitioners on where (which country?) and when to invest.

2. Understand the risks involved in the real estate (land) investment.

3. Next, look around for a reputed and good real estate (land) operator and manager to manage your real estate (land) investment.

4. Do the operator and manager of the real estate (land) investment have a solid and consistent track record of yielding good returns for investors?

5. Are their investment returns audited by a third party reputed auditor company?

6. Inquire about the Returns of Investment (ROI) and the length of the investment.

7. By applying the Rule of 72 invented by Albert Einstein to determine if the compounded returns per annum for the length of the investment is reasonable

8. Examine the current projects available and ask their sales staff how long before the projects are all filled by investors.

9. Be aware of the amount of tax needed to be filed for the returns to determine your net profit.

10. Does this investment offer you any protection like for example land title insurance or capital protection?

11. Overall, does this investment meet your mid to long term financial objective?

You need the proper keyword research tools to work effectively online

There are many different types of keyword research tools out on the market these days. Some are free, and of course, some are not.
When we are talking about keyword research tools or software, you really need to take this part of your marketing seriously. For if it wasn't for good keyword research, most people wouldn't have much success at all. This is the reason that it is so vitally important to have good tools to work with.

There are some online services that have been around a while. Some of these sites and tools are still regarded for their high quality, and rightly so. WordTracker, is among one of the first and still remains to be one of the most effective sites around. It's been proven time and again, it is simply a great tool, that provides quality results.

SEO Book has been largely popular in the past couple of years as well. I've often used SEO Book's Keyword Research tool in many cases, and did cross references between a couple of the other alternatives around. It does provide great results as well. While I don't think it may be quite as accurate as Word Tracker, it is still a good tool to be utilizing in much of your research.

Overture's keyword suggestion tool is free and much quicker to use than Wordtracker. It works more like the Wordtracker but it will not tell you how many sites are competing for a certain keyword phrase. For example if you type 'golf clubs', the Overture search suggestion tool will tell you that during the last month the words 'golf clubs' was searched, say for example 340000 times at Overture.Com. Similarly 'golf balls' was searched 310987 times. Also, given one word it will tell you all relevant combinations of that word, which are based on actual searches done by people. If the word you keyed in is not a common highly searched term then you might not get any results. It means that hardly anybody has searched for that term in the last month.

There is a bit of a newer keyword research tool out there these days that can be obtained for free as well. The Groovytastic Keyword Dominator is such a tool, and it actually takes all of it's results from Word Tracker itself. So this is really good in terms of having a great source for it's information that it brings back. It returns all of the keyword results from Google, Yahoo, and MSN. Some people regard these three search engines as The Big Three, meaning that these are the search engines to be really concerned about.

There is a drawback of The Groovytastic Keyword Dominator though, and that is, the keyword research software only returns results for the top 100 related results. It won't dig down any further than one hundred deep in finding related keywords or keyword phrases. This really only means, that in some cases you may not find that real low hanging fruit, or combinations of long tail search terms.

The Groovytastic Keyword Dominator is still a very good and useful tool though. It performs good and accurate keyword research fast, and does give you the results that in many case will be enough that all important start on building and creating your site around your chosen set of keywords and keyword related phrases.

How to Clean your Monitor

Even if you never touch the screen of your monitor, it somehow has a tendency to collect dirt, dust, and fingerprints. Here are instructions on how to clean it.
When cleaning any computer componet (this includes the monitor) the standard advice is do not spray any liquid on the component and do not use so much liquid on the cloth that it runs off the cloth. Instead dampen a cloth with the liquid and then wipe the component with the damp cloth. The reason for this is that the liquid could seep inside of the case through cracks or vents and short out or ruin the electrical circuitry. As added protection against this happening, you should unplug the component before cleaning and not plug it in until any liquid that may seep inside has a chance to dry (like overnight).
If you clean the screen when it is off, you will be able to see the dirt and smudges better.
Before cleaning, you need to figure out what type of screen you have. Either the screen has a hard glass surface or it is soft. If the screen surface is soft to the touch or if it changes color when you touch it, it is soft. Otherwise, it is hard. CRT monitors (which are the old type of monitor and TV that is not flat), most touch screens, and most tablet screens are hard, while most LCD or flat panel display screens are soft.
There are some special don'ts for cleaning a soft screen. Don't use a paper towel or any cloth that could scratch the screen. Don't use ordinary glass cleaner (ammonia based liquids, like Windex). And don't press hard on the screen. Pressing hard anywhere on the screen could damage it (I know because my laptop screen has a pernament light spot on it because of this).
First try cleaning the soft screen with a dry, soft cotton cloth. If that does not clean it good enough, put water or rubbing alcohol on the cloth. Only dampen the cloth. Do not get it so wet that the liquid runs down the screen.
With a hard screen made of glass (as on a CRT monitor) you can use ordinary glass cleaner, but if the screen has anti-glare protection or some other special surface the ammonia in the cleaner could ruin it, so it is best just to steer clear of those types of cleaners. Water or alcohol should work fine. Hard screens do not require a light touch as the soft screens do.
Once the screen is clean, turn your attention to the rest of the monitor. Wipe off the back, top, and sides or better yet, vacuum it off being sure to suck out any dust that has accumulated in the vents. Be careful not to let any cleaning solution run or drip through the vents. While we are talking about the vents, never let books or papers stacked on the monitor obstruct the vents. The vents are there for a reason. Obstructed vents can cause the monitor to overheat or even catch on fire.
Even though the inside of a conventional monitor (CRT) can get quite dusty, it is not recommended to clean the inside unless you are an experienced technician because the picture tube contains high voltage even after the power has been shut off.
A dusty, smudgy monitor may not harbor dangerous bacteria which could make you sick or even kill you, but still, don't you think it is important to be able to see the screen? So, come on, get up off your chair, find a soft cloth and water, and clean your monitor now.
